In essence the Sidescan splits the view of the cone beneath the boat down the centre. Therefore it show everything on left side on the cone to the left of the screen and vice versa for the right.
The advantage of this is even structures further away from the boat, such as edges, can be quickly identified in this way.
The Sidescan can be operated in both HyperVision and DownScan views. The advantage of HyperVision is that it provides more details, while the advantage of the DownScan view is that it allows you to see further to the sides.
At the top of the scale, you can see the range of scanning or viewing to the sides of the boat.
Due to the dual scanning process performed by the echo sounder, the scanning speed of this view is not as fast as the Sonar or DownVision.
In this view, you can also use the Trackback function.
