The Structure Mapping is a mapping function that can be purchased as an extension in addition to the echo sounder. It includes several features:

  1. Structure mapping itself

  2. Map boundaries

  3. Export as Image

  4. Structure mapping itself

With this function, differences in the "bottom composition" can be detected. For example, whether there are harder or softer areas, but this is always in relation to the overall lake structure. The detailed setting is the same as for normal map creation. Two types of maps are always obtained here, which are created and can be selected on the GPS map when activated. More information on this will follow under the heading "Show generated maps".

The structure layer determines which area of the sonar data is used to determine the bottom structure. 'Bottom surface' uses the intensity of the signal directly reflected from the bottom surface and is therefore directly related to the hardness of the bottom. 'Bottom structure' also uses a portion of the subsequent signal in addition to the signal reflected from the bottom surface, and is therefore a measure of the roughness of the bottom.

This function allows you to cut out specific areas on a map if they have been overlaid by the mapping process, such as islands, peninsulas, and irregularly shaped shorelines.

The specific functions are also explained here independently of the application using question mark symbols.

To activate the function, simply click on the “+” and you will be taken back to the GPS map, where you can apply the respective function as described in the pop-up window below
