The mapping grid allows you to define the area that the boat should drive though, while recording depth and GPS data, in order to create a depth map later using the 'Load Map Overlays' function.

To do this, select the action "Automatically create a grid". Once you have clicked on this, you will be prompted to define the area to be surveyed by simply clicking on the map itself. Here you can use an infinite number of points to adjust the area of the desired mapping area.

After selecting the action "Create grid automatically", you will be prompted to define the area to be surveyed by clicking on the map. You can use as many points as you need to adjust the mapping area to your desired size. Once you have selected the first point again and closed the area, you will enter the grid creation window. Here you can select the parameters for the grid (orientation/raster spacing), confirm them, and the raster will be created.

Orientation

It is recommended to choose the orientation in such a way that the boat travels long distances with as few turns as possible, as each turn requires more power due to the need to accelerate again.

If you want to have a more accurate map, you can also select the Horizontal & Vertical alignment, so the boat will drive directly along the alignments. This will result in a more precise mapping of the area.

Grid Spacing

Here you can select how far away each driving line should be. The smaller the distance, the more driving lines will be drawn in the grid, and the more the boat will have to travel, which makes the map more accurate but also increases the driving time.

For a rough and quick map, you should choose a larger distance, while for a more accurate map, a smaller distance is recommended.
